roku media player problem

im trying to connect my phone to my roku TLC 32 inch tv modle numer 32S321 Serial number YK002J458875 through a usb cable charger but its not doing anything and not showing anything eather have have let it sit on the screen waiting for almost 30 minutes and still nothing its like the roku media player can not find It even though I do have it plugged in right i would really appreciate it if someone can help me so i can hopefully get it connected to my TV please and thank you
