When I tried to watch comedy central app, a box came up that asked that I log in to my cable provider first. I don't use cable as I get my tv basic connection from streaming YouTube tv. Does this mean I cannot watch the Comedy Central shows?
Most apps allow you to authenticate against a streaming service. Just follow the instructions and enter the service you use.
Just like some apps do not accept all cable services (they accept most, but you may find some not accepted), the apps may not accept all streaming services. Most accept YouTube TV, Sling, Hulu plus Live TV, AT&T TV, and other services. I've not tried to authenticate a Comedy Central app, so I can't say what services they accept.
