That's it! I ordered a Chromecast. This problem has been going on for 6 months. It's entirely unacceptable. 

I've been thrilled with my Roku with the exception of this issue. I listen to youtube daily so this stutter has been beyond frustrating. I'm unimpressed with Roku's response to the problem. 

I'm out. I recommend you do the same.

Hello,

I had the same issue of the video hung 3 seconds and the audio passes by which results in lagging video.

Solution:

While playing a video, go to quality->audio->audi Delay-> mention 3000milliseconds = 3 seconds.

After that changes, the audio by default starts 3 seconds late first where video over takes.but whithin seconds, the video hungs and matches with the audio sync.

Which easily resolved the issue, instead of going around the bush lets do this small tweak and enjoy life
