YouTube app refuses to launch

Hello I bought two hisense roku smart tvs. They both worked great until 6/30/22, but two most popular apps YouTube and YouTube TV are refusing to launch.

I tried:

Removed app and reinstalled

Software updates

Unplug TV

Tried justanswer.com

Tried home 5x, rewind 2x forward 2x up arrow to reset again

Factory reset

Now the channels don't even take me to the login screen. I only see message "channel did not launch, try again", and it tries to relaunch and goes through same.

Anyone found solution or resolve this problem or have similar experience this past few days?

Are you using a VPN?

Do they launch if you connect the Roku device to an alternate network (cell phone hotspot)?

There's a step missing. Correctly done, it's:

  1. Remove the app
  2. Reboot the Roku
  3. Reinstall the app

All three steps, in that order. Any missing steps, or any other order does not accomplish what is intended.

Now, that may not fix it, but as you did (correctly) assume that would be a process to try, it should be done in the manner described.

Thank you DBDukes. I do not see System Restart as an option in the Settings / System.

So, this is what i will try and report back.

Remove app

Turn off the TV.

Unplug it for 15+ minutes.

Restart TV.

Reinstall app

 

Let's see of that works.

On some Roku devices, you have to do Settings > System > Power > System restart. However, on others, it’s just Settings > System > System restart.

The unplugging thing will do, as simply turning a Roku TV off doesn't reboot the device, as you seem to know.

However, there should be a Power entry in the menu. It used to be: Settings > System > Power > System restart

Okay. That did not work.

I thought factory reset would do it. It did not fix itYouTube.

I will try again now with

Remove channel

Settings/System/Power/System Restart

Unplug TV for 15+ min

Restart tv

Add channel

Home screen

Launch channel

I wonder if it's a software update from youtube.

I'll try another factory reset.

Will report back after all these.

My last attempt to Unplug 15+ and reading channel did not work. Please let me know if you think what else to try, short of prayer.
