YouTube app not launching July 20 2021

YouTube stopped launching on one of My 3800x sticks today.  Error = Can’t run channel.  ‘YouTube’ could not be run because it could not be reinstalled from the network.  Please check your network and try again.

Note that I reviewed similar threads in recent months and tried the uninstall-restart process include hard unplug variations followed by YouTube reinstall with the same results.  Also performed complete network connection reset.  Did not do a factory reset—and would like to avoid that. My Other 3800x sticks seem to be ok with YouTube.   Help?

Re: YouTube app not launching July 20 2021

You didnt mention your firmware version: Settings/System/About

Known solutions/workarounds for YT app not loading:

1) Check for updates: Settings/System/System updates/Check now - try again

2) Change your Theme to the Roku Default: Settings/Theme/Restore default theme - try again

3) Change your Screensaver to a Roku clock: Settings/Theme/Screensavers - try again

4) Remove SD card (if installed) - try again

5) Remove YT app, RESTART ROKU: Settings/System/System restart/Restart, Add YT app - try again

6) Network connection reset: Settings/System/Advanced system settings/Network connection reset - try again

7) Completely unplug power from Roku for 10-15 minutes - try again

8) Factory reset: Settings/System/Advanced system settings/Factory reset <--- last resort

Re: YouTube app not launching July 20 2021

I have not tried #2 or #3,  and for #7 I only kept it unplugged for a minute or two.  All other items in the list below have been attempt except nuclear option #8.  Let me try 2 and 3 and see...

Re: YouTube app not launching July 20 2021

I just checked one of my working 3810x sticks and it’s on build 4209-50.  Maybe -55 has issues?

No - The last 2 digits are a model code - the 3800 and 3810 are different models, and those are their model codes (they are both on build 4209).

So the builds map to the model. Makes sense.

Re: YouTube app not launching July 20 2021

May be a memory issue.

If you have lots of apps-channels take most-all of them off except Spectrum if you have that. Take YouTube off as well

Then restart.

Put YouTube back on. Try it.

Then add back other channels in order that you "must have". Try launching YouTube after each added channel.

If it fails then you know you have reached limit, take last one off, restart.

Nothing worked.  Had to go nuclear option factory reset, which did work.  All is well now.

Definitely not preferable, but for those for whom every other workaround/solution fails, it seems to succeed every time.
