Xfinity Beta poor video quality

High definition image quality is nice and sharp when I watch channels through my Xfinity box.  But when I watch those same programs on the same TV via the Xfinity Beta app the images look more like standard definition, rather than high definition.  Has anyone experienced this, and if so, is there a remedy?
