I tried to get a neighbor's Roku Express up and running. Apparently Roku Express has been out for a few years. Older versions will not work with Xfinity (before Xfinity purchased Roku).

Um, Xfinity doesn't own Roku. Roku purchased Dynastrom in 2017, but no one has purchased them.

My Express is now up and running fine!  For how long, who knows! I did nothing to it! What I did notice is an update happened as I was in the middle of scrolling thru the apps. I thought I would try Xfinity one last time before I went to bed last week one morning (as I work the night shift) and low and behold it has been working ever since. It has been temperamental this morning so I just shut it down so I am not sure what that means so I guess we will see...

Thanks. Your info got the job done in 10 minutes as opposed to 3 hours trying to explain the situation to the geniuses at xfinity (who insisted it was a Roku problem) Thanks again!

i have read the thread but have a different but similar problem.  I have Xfinity acct and a TCL Roku TV.  I loading and authorized the app w/o any problem, following the steps in an Xfinity Forum step-by-step procedure.   I got the authorization code, named the TV and it went thru the initialazation process.   I am suppose to then get a screen of choices, which includes LIVE TV.    I have rebooted TV, modem, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, but all I get is a screen showing me my previously purchased Xfintiy movies and TV shows.    I am unable to get to a screen that allows me to select LIVE TV.  That choice does not even show in grey'ed mode.   The buttons on my Roku remote only allow me to move up and down between the 2 prev purchases from Xfinity.

I have a case pending with Xfinity Customer Dis-service, and they do there usual shuffle and blame everyone else, transferring me ad nauseum from "specialist" to "specialist," all to no avail.   Now they are saying my INCOMING signal may be low!!!   Yet all other TV and internet functions are normal.

How do I get to the screen that allows me to select LIVE TV??

Having a sign in issue. Started approx. 4-5 months ago. Click the application and go to the “Xfinity Stream Beta” screen. At the bottom of the screen it says “initializing” and then I’m back at the Roku home screen. I have to constantly delete the xfinity app, reinstall and then re-authorize. Hoping to get some help.

Thanks for the time.

I had problems as well...roku beta xfinity app signed me out.  Signed in and it would say that I couldn’t use it on my tv, only a phone or pad.  SIGN OUT or EXIT APP.  Xfinity spent hours trying to help!  Did everything.  FINALLY I tried a different browser on my phone (chrome) to activate app and IT WORKED!!!  Good luck!👍

Try reauthorizing with a different browser.  Chrome.

Re: Xfinity Beta App Issues

I just upgraded to a new ROKU Ultra upgrading from my first ROKU 3 purchased in 2013..  Everything works fine except this Xfinity App..  It authorized and came up just fine but will not play any video..    I decided to get the Ultra frankly to get the newer features and to let me store more apps..   And it was on sale etc....

Everything worked fine on ROKU 3...      It seems all updated etc on Ultra..

Any ideas why it might be different on Ultra vs older Roku 3??

Thanks

I wish Xfinity would stop labeling their app as Beta and release a working version. It's been labeled as beta for years, and I think they use that as an excuse to not put any effort into it. My guess is they simply want you to rent a box from them.

The latest Roku Ultra (4670) is far more capable than the Roku 3. It has twice the operating memory of any other Roku device (2GB) although only 512 MB of channel storage space (which is double the 3's amount). But you can add an SD card to supplement that if you have a lot of channels. The CPU is much faster and has more cores. But operationally, I wouldn't expect it to have any problems running a channel that was fine on the 3. That's something that needs to be brought up with Xfinity, since it's their channel.
