Why no updates on roku you tube tv dispute

Are they still in negotiations or have both sides given up? Last update on issue was back in May. Not good to leave customers in the dark and constantly wondering if they are going to lose their tv service. Give us an update!

Why? Because the Roku-YouTubeTV carriage contract has expired.  It has been reported that Google (YouTube/YouTubeTV's owner) is demanding the following in a new contract:

  • Roku is to pass on all its users search requests to Google, even those NOT made in YouTube or YouTubeTV.
  • YouTube/YouTubeTV search results are to be given preferential placement in Roku search results.
  • Roku must include Google-demanded changes in Roku operating software.

Roku finds these demands unacceptable and has not agreed to them. 

Meanwhile, Google has shown those demands are not all that important to them by making YouTubeTV available from within their YouTube app on Roku where no such concessions are in place, yet they won't agree to a YouTubeTV contract without them.

Personally, I applaud Roku for resisting this power play on the part of Google.
