I enjoy listening to certain channels as I sleep and often awaken to the channel being cut off and roku not working. This time, I managed to see a brief message on screen about not using my remote often enough then I got booted out of the channel.
If this is a policy, I hate it!

It is not a policy. It is a feature for those that wish to monitor and save data bandwidth when possible. If audio or video is streaming for 4 hours without any interaction from the remote it will display a prompt and ask if you are still watching/listening and if there is no response it will stop the stream.
You can turn this feature ON or OFF in the Roku OS at SETTINGS -- NETWORK -- BANDWIDTH SAVER.

What Roku device/tv are you using?
SETTINGS should be on the left side of the HOME PAGE of the Roku screen.
