I would agree that Vevo's platform had stagnated in terms of trying to improve their user interface (not just the Roku app but also in general). However, they seem to have a different monetization structure than YouTube. There were several cases when the official music video on YouTube had much stricter region controls then the same exact official publication on Vevo. I am assuming the difference is that how YouTube pays for ad monetization doesn't make it worth it to publish the videos in several countries via YouTube. For people who are in the USA and only interact with people in the USA, this really is not a big deal. But having a legal alternative to this content that was also available on Roku was nice while it lasted, at least for those of us that saw benefit from having an alternative. There has been some very creative expression provided in music videos and some conversations just aren't the same unless all contributors have equal access to the source material being discussed.
As a side note, I am not implying this thread is now open to discussion on bypassing region control as such discussion will just get the thread locked (and rightfully so). I am just trying to express my opinion on Vevo shutting down (and why their limited interface still had benefits) and hopefully no one feels the need to offer illegal "solutions."
