VH1 App E40003

Jump to solution

For the past few months everytime I try to watch the VH1 app on my Roku tv it says "vH1 is unavailable. Perhaps grab a snack, then try again". Then in the right corner it says E40003. I restart my tv and nothing. I've also removed and then added the app again. No luck. But if I use my Kindle tablet, I can view it. What's up with that?

Thanks for the inquiry.

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.

If the issue remains unresolved, I'd recommend reaching out to VH1 support directly to report the issue and request additional support. Many channels on the Roku platform are developed and maintained by the channel provider directly, and they'll be able to best assist. If other channels are working correctly, and you only experience this issue on the VH1 channel (app), that is likely an indication that the issue lies within that particular channel. In these cases, the channel provider will need to investigate the issue in order to help resolve it.

I have solved this. Read bottom for solution

I have two ISP providers. One Verizon, one Viasat. Which led me to do some debugging. When I connect with Verizon it gets blocked. When I do with viasat it doesn’t not.

Turns out the apps have updated the end user conditions and you need to accept it but to do that’s it redirects to a website (neutron.tech.api or something like it) that Verizon blocks before you can accept, so you get the “grab a snack “ message. You need to approve this on your router itself.  For some reason Verizon notes this redirect as malicious. It’s not.

To unblock this, connect to your router as admin and when you see the block come accept it and add the exception  Close the app and reopen it and it should work.

Note: this is the same that happens with ViacomCBS app (like Comedy Central, MTV, VH1 etc)

My app now works .

It's also BET and Mtv. I tried deleting the apps and reinstalling them, I tried a factory reset, still nothing. This is getting very aggravating. I can watch on my cell but **bleep** if I can on my Tv.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?  It's quite annoying.  Nothing including a factory reset seems to get it working.

I can seem to get to the app on my phone and also via my AppleTV so it seems like a Roku or Viacom problem.  Can anyone confirm whose problem it is?

Thanks!

Anyone else still having the E40003 issue? We can no longer watch the Noggin or Comedy Central App because of this problem.

I've been getting that error with Comedy Central. I haven't tried the others. Roku support always posts the same "have you tried turning it off and turning it on again" response, then defaults to telling you to contact the channel/app support. I've sent 3 emails to CC App Support, and have not had a reply. Not even an auto-reply. If all the affected channels are owned by the same company, or their apps were designed by the same developer, that could be the problem. If not, then it's a Roku problem. Thing is, we may never know. Canned responses and support mailboxes that aren't monitored don't really give you much to go on. I can watch CC on every other app/device that I own. It leads me to believe that the problem is a Roku playback issue.

Oh well. I guess there's always Amazon FireStick.

This has also been happening to me with both the VH1 and MTV apps - removing/reinstalling and resetting the tv has not worked for me. As most people have posted that a factory reset hasn’t worked, I’ve avoided that option. Would very much like a solution to this problem...
