Stingray ad that won't allow access to cable box

Jump to solution

Somehow, my octogenarian parent found a way to display an ad for "Stingray" music services whenever they try to access the cable box from the Home menu. When I click on "OK" like the ad suggests, nothing happens either. Is this a virus or did another service get accidentally mapped to the cable box (on HDMI2).

Are you clicking OK with the cable box remote?

I have seen many people on the Xfinity/Comcast forum complaining that they are being charged for "Stingray Karaoke"  which they didn't want - I wonder if those started in the same way...

Ooh! Thanks! I hadn't thought about pressing "OK" on the cable controller.

If you run into this issue, the fix is to press "OK" to go into the Stingray menu. Then press "Exit to TV" twice to get back to your cable channel.
