Sling not working

Since the most recent Roku update, Sling will load, but no channels can be accessed. An error code of 21-51 is displayed.

After having gone through multiple hard resets and reboots, it would appear that Roku is not correctly deleting the Sling app, as re installation does not require a sign in to Sling, as it should.

This would appear to be a Roku issue rather than a Sling issue.

When problems are confined to a particular channel, it may be that the channel installation has gotten corrupted. A reinstall may fix the problem, so give it a try. Remove/reinstall procedure:

  1. Highlight channel on home screen.
  2. Press * key and choose Remove channel option.
  3. IMPORTANT- DON'T SKIP:
    From home screen, Settings > System > System restart. This assures no remnant of the old installation remains in the Roku's memory so you get a complete reinstall. It may or may not make a difference, depending on what's causing your problem, but it's worth doing.
  4. Reinstall the channel. Note it will be added to the END of the channel grid.
  5. If channel requires a login, you may need to log in anew.

If the problem persists, note that 21-51 is a Sling-reported error, not a Roku-reported error.  See if anything on the Sling page re error 21-51 helps: https://help.sling.com/en/support/solutions/articles/46000000576-error-code-21-20

When reinstalling did you restart the Roku between removing and reinstalling the channel?  This is an important step to clear the Roku's memory and ensure a full installation of the latest version of the channel app.

Have you installed a micro SD card on your Roku?  If so, try removing the card before you go through the delete, reboot, reinstall cycle.

Both my Roku 4 and Roku Ultra seem to misbehave somewhat with a micro SD card installed.

I believe this is a Roku issue, rather than Sling.

After removing the Sling App, then doing a System Restart, the same issue occurs. If the Roku software was working correctly, deleting then re installing the Sling app after a System restart would require me to sign in again to Sling. However, it does not do so. What this means (after discussions with Sling) is that the Roku is not completely deleting the Sling app. There would seem to be something corrupted in the latest Roku update

Settings > System > System update > [press OK]

What software version does the Roku say you are running and when does it say you were last updated? Does this coincide with when your problem began?
