Re: Roku Please Keep Vidangel

Jump to solution

Imagine, comparing Vidangel to Pornhub.  Perhaps you need to learn a little something about tact.  Know your customers.

That said, what is Roku doing to help VidAngel or are we simply taking the approach that it's their problem?  Roku could do a lot better for their image if they took an attitude of caring for their customers instead of "It's not our problem"

@frankmcc

I don't have any customers. See my signature? I don't work for Roku. I'm a user. Just like you. And like the PornHub users. I bought and paid for my Roku devices, and I expect proper function. And having been a Roku user for years, I know a little about how things work. I can help you gain knowledge about the situation. But only if you're willing to listen.

My point about PornHub and VidAngel users is valid. Both of you are complaining about the same thing and for the wrong reason. Content does not matter. It's not the issue. Taking out offensive scenes and cutting out bad language does not matter. Naked people fornicating does not matter. That's not the issue. The issue is that the apps for both are non-certified. Well, that's one issue.

The other issue is that both companies are stirring up users rather than directing actions to do what is necessary to get their apps certified. They both practice that kind of business.

Now, if you (PornHub and VidAngel users) were to direct some of your ire towards the company for sitting on their hindquarters and not getting certification, all of this would go away.

@DBDukes hmmm...  I guess the title Roku Community Streaming Expert is misleading.  I thought you were an employee giving bad customer service.  I see the "I'm not a Roku employee" now...

Actually I am complaining to and about both Vidangel and Roku for not working with each other.  It seems everyone is pointing the finger, but no one is doing anything.  Same ol' story, blame the other guy!  In the mean time to only ones that suffer is the customer.

"The other issue is that both companies are stirring up users rather than directing actions to do what is necessary to get their apps certified. They both practice that kind of business." - Perhaps you should add the third company in this - ROKU.  No one here is innocent.

Of course in the end it really does not matter.  We will all just find another way.

That is valid. Roku, like most large companies, isn't the best at communicating. They've not chimed in much on this issue from the many many posts about it. They've combined them as part of organizing the posts, which but not much else apart from that.

Roku no longer supporting VidAngel

Jump to solution

I would add my disappointment to those already voicing their concern that Roku is no longer allowing VidAngel to be accessed because it is not a part of the Roku store. Roku, please place VidAngel in your store. Please consider all of the viewers that enjoy this service and the ability it provides families to watch movies without language, sex, nudity, and other parental concerns. Allowing VidAngel to be a part of the Roku family only brings Roku more customers. Roku should include customers who do not want any filters and those who do, thus increasing their popularity. Limiting customers to only one kind of viewer loses money for Roku. Roku, ask VidAngel how many subscribers they have and consider the potential gains or losses if Roku excludes them.

Well I am so sorry to say it, but my entire family has pulled the trigger and we have jumped ship. My 2 high end ROKUs are going in the garbage. Our adult children also have the same ultra box's. We have 8 between all of us.

VidAngel said they are on the verge of getting a deal with the Fire TV devices, so we and all our adult children agreed on the Fire Cube 2.0 with remote, and it's a real beauty.

I think we will get over the sadness with this new platform. I will report back after we have had a little more time to work with it. I have a grandaughter in college so we may send her one as well. This will give us a total of 9 devices spread across the U,S. and that will give the new platform a good test across a wide variety of family age groups. If there is something important lacking with the fire cube we will know soon enough.

Tossing our devices away was a bit of a monetary loss for us, and, we would have liked to have found a place to recycle the two in our house but couldnt find a place in our small community. But our children live in four different states, so they may have electronic recycling centers near them.

As a family we discussed the idea of giving them away, but we agreed to toss or destroy them all, since we would just be making our current problem of loosing or clean viewing choices someone else's problem with the ROKU platform.

So to the dump or recycle center they all go. Ouch!

Ah well, times change, and companies change, sometimes both loose.

Please don't just throw them away. It's not environmentally responsible, and simply a waste of resources. If you do give them away, sell them, or simply recycle them, make sure you reset the devices using the factory reset function. Otherwise your information and access to other subscribed sites might it into the wrong hands. Also log into your Roku user account (https://my.roku.com) and delete the device from your account. That protects your personal information that might be contained on the device, as little data as that might be.

You also might simply consider keeping the devices. There is no one streaming player that does "everything", and in the future there might be a must have service you want that is only available on Roku devices. I use numerous streaming players for that reason. I have Android based players (Nvidia Shield and Onn 4K Streaming player), Roku, Smart TVs and Blu Ray players that all offer different access. Yes, there's plenty of overlap between them, but there are some services that I can only get on a Roku. But in the end, they are your devices to do with what you please.

Hi Roku,

Happy Valentines Day!❤

I just spoke with VidAngel and they are offering a $30 credit to try any other device that carries their app. I guess this is where we will finally go or separate ways on February 23rd 💔...

Are Roku community comments being shared with the Roku execs?

I would love to know what THEY think... Because VidAngel is very responsive, and says they are still willing to let Roku use their amazing app... Why disrupt and not respond to your customers Roku? If you respect us, you'd at least comment.

All, PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH THESE EXECS? Maybe one of us will get an answer...
