Help & troubleshooting for channels on your Roku device, including adding/removing channels, logging in to, authenticating, or activating a channel, channel-specific playback issues, assistance contacting channel publishers to report issues, and adjusting channel-specific settings.
Thanks for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing.
Could you tell us how your Roku Express is powered? Is it connected to the USB port of the TV or to a wall outlet? In some cases, the USB power provided by the TV is not sufficient to power the device. Even though your Roku device may appear to be working, running with insufficient power can lead to instability, crashing, and other unpredictable behavior.
We suggest using the included power cord and power adapter then plug your Roku into a working power outlet in the wall. Powering it through a power outlet in the wall has the additional advantage that your Roku player will not need to power up every time you turn on your TV. This means your Roku player will be up and running faster than it would be connected to a TV.
I am experiencing similar with Great Courses and Great Courses +. I spoke with a human (!) there and was informed that Roku, Inc. needed to roll out 'updates' to all of its customers. And yes, this issue began a little more than 2 weeks ago. It is still happening today. Apparently, it is a Roku issue because a computer or another device plays with no glitch!!
I have 2 tv sets; the glitch happens on both. Every 48 minutes, I get booted back to my channels screen. Sometimes, after being thrown off the channel, returning to it is not so smooth. Pre-glitch, when I returned to GPC+, I received the option to "resume watching"; now, if I get booted that option only appears sometimes.
I'm having the same problem getting kicked out of Great Courses three or four times in the course of a half-hour lecture. Great Courses is the only Roku app I'm having trouble with. I've checked my download speed continuously during the course of a lecture and it is always over 200, but I still get kicked out. I'm wondering if Roku and Great Courses are having a feud, like Roku and YouTube???
Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves. We suggest reaching out to The Great Courses Plus support directly to report the issue and for further help. There's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from the channel developer.
