Roku account is set up under a different region

Hi there, so looks like somebody had set up am account with my email address initially, and were based in the USA. I took the email add back by resetting and putting my own details in there. But now looks like the initial set up means I cannot access UK apps/channels like BBC iplayer, ihub etc. Do I now have to remove this account, set up a new email address to use only for this in order to access these apps? Can I not just delete the account and set back up using my existing add? It seems a real pain to have to go through all this and have to have a other email account simply because somebody somewhere tried to use mine.
