Roku Closes Apps

My Roku model 3930RW - Roku Express will randomly close down every app I’m trying to watch and go back to the main menu. I’ve deleted the channels, factory reset the device. Checked for software updates and it keeps happening. Can’t even watch TV on this thing it happens so often. Maybe get 5 minutes in to a show and it closes out and have to restart. Software version. 9.4.0 • build 4210-AE

If you are powering your Roku by plugging into the USB port on the TV, try powering from house power via the USB power adapter that came with the Roku.  Many USB ports only supply 0.5 amp or less, which is not enough to power a Roku reliably.  If you don't have the Roku adapter handy, any other you have from another device should work as long as the fine print on it says it outputs at least 1 amp.

Please report back and let us know how you make out.

Re: Roku Closes Apps

I’m using the cable that came with it and it’s directly in the wall

Re: Roku Closes Apps

I'm not sure what the AE suffix means, so I'm gonna ask: where are you? The US?

Next, can you reliably say what the longest period of time is?

Next, I assume you have the menu sounds enabled and at a decent level?

Settings > Audio > Menu volume > [medium|high]

Assuming that, when it exits, does the menu sound occur? Or is it a silent crash?
