I thoroughly enjoyed watching "The Beverly Hillbillies" back in the '60s, but I don't remember ever seeing reruns on TV in the decades since. Odd, I thought. Why not?
Well now they're on the Roku Channel and I finally get to enjoy them again (well, kind of enjoy them--they're not quite as good as I remember them from childhood). And I figured out why they never showed them as reruns. They embedded a commercial as part of each show, and a frequent supporter was Winston cigarettes. But cigarette commercials were outlawed. So if they showed the reruns, they'd be breaking the law by showing a cigarette commercial.
