My ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN News, SECN, etc have been working great until I upgraded HULU to Disney Plus and ESPN+. Now when I try to get into ESPN for instance, I get it about 30% loaded (retrieving) and then I get the message Video Playback Error. ESPN+ works great. HULU works great. Can't get ESPN, ESPN News, ESPNU, ESPN2, SECN.
Please Help
Thanks for the post.
Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more. Then once the channel is back on your device, try authenticating the channel with your account information.
Please keep us posted.
Thanks,
Danny
I am going through the ESPN app which has HULU in upper left corner. Also I can get ESPN+ through the app.
@fishfun83 Thanks for the note. The bundle subscription that Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ offers that you referred to, only includes ESPN+ content. It does not include standard ESPN content. This must be authenticated using your TV provider credentials. There are two separate login options within the ESPN channel's settings, one for each of these options. You'll need to make sure to use the login option for 'Provider account' within the ESPN channel's settings.
If you are already logged in, try using the option to 'Log out' to remove this login, then log in again.
If you need more help from there, we'd recommend reaching out to ESPN support for more assistance with their channel. You can reach them directly here: https://support.espn.com/hc/en-us or by calling 1 (888) 549-3776
Thanks,
Tanner

We were having the same issue as the original poster and I found this thread. This is the solution that fixed it! Thank you!
This is not working for me. After deleting ESPN app/ restarting / adding ESPN app back, I still cannot access plain old ESPN even though I entered my cable provider info again. I get the message "Media not allowed user must re-authenticate".
No problem with ESPN +
What I found out is that your Hulu password and your ESPN+ passwords all need to match. Once I made them all the same, everything worked.
I am using the roku stick and when I go to remove channel that is not an option. It will let me remove other channels, but not that one so I can remove it and do the other things. Why is that not an option on the roku stick for espn?
