Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

Has anyone requested tv.com or is that like Hulu? I can get tv.com on my Android phone, so I'm hoping that it's doable.

Maybe instead of requesting channels, I should look into what's involved with the SDK. My day job involves a fair amount of scripting, so if it doesn't require advanced coding skills, it might be a good learning experience.

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

I see that there will be PBS video. From the list of shows, it looks like it won't be the whole content available from video.pbs.org? It would really be fantastic to have access to this. One of the major uses that I have for the PC hooked up to my tv is to watch programming from video.pbs.org. With a 3 year old in the house, it's nice to be able to watch it when I can.

Would it be possible to create a C-Span channel, for C-Span1, 2 and 3?

TV.com and Hulu content is in Flash format. The Roku firmware doesn't currently support Flash.

C-SPAN does not appear to podcast any video content. so it might be possible, but it's outside the scope of my current project

A recent episode of HDnation was talking about how great comedy central is. Is that a possibility or is it flash or restricted some other way?

Interesting... because my G1 phone didn't support flash until I modded to 2.1 last week, so the app for tv.com must have bypassed it somehow.

I think with all the iPhone apps and upcoming iPad talk, more sites will be friendlier to non-flash applications. Hope so, anyway.

That's to name a few content providers who have podcasts on the top 200 for iTunes. Many have multiple feeds -- so could make a good channel. With many of these, they aren't going to be full episodes.

Is it an official App? Flash is the front-end, but they may have h.264 videos stored securely on their servers that they can deliver through their phone App. But it would likely be impossible to access this without their permission.
