Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

Any idea how long are the descriptions? I found a bug that can crash the Roku if the descriptions are over 250 characters.

I didn't know that, the description is very long and it causes the Roku to crash.
I wonder if nowhereman can shorten the text.

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

There are web sites who don't want their video content on set-top boxes; there's not much you can do about those. But there are probably plenty of sites who would be more than happy to make their content available, who just need to make slight changes and someone will make a channel for them.

I understand that web sites need to 1) Use RSS and 2) Make it available as a podcast. I'm not quite sure what that actually means, but I will pass it along to websites in the hopes that they can make these changes.

for clarity's sake... you cannot do #2 without #1. All podcasts use RSS, by definition. Also, those are the requirements for content to work within my existing channel architecture, not for content to work with the box in general. If a content producer were willing to develop their own channel code (or pay someone to develop a custom channel for them) they could have a channel that did not require podcasted content. I chose to build channels from podcasts because I have a long history with podcasting, because there is already such a huge volume of content being podcasted, and because it allows for rapid development of new channels based on my existing code.

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

Hey nowhereman, can you create a category under Internet streams called "World" and add this stream?

Rusty Mike Radio (Jerusalem)
http://icy-e-01.sharp-stream.com/rustymike.mp3

BBC World Service (if this is possible)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/meta/ ... _au_nb.asx

And any other stream you would like, but I can't think of.

I can, but I'm not near my box, so I can't test it. If it doesn't work, let me know and I will remove it.

This is a Windoze Media stream. The box claims to support WMA streams, but I have not had any luck playing them yet :?

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

Hello Nowhereman, Thanks for all the goodies. My wife is cambodian and she's wondering if you could add these shoutcast channels (http://www.shoutcast.com/Internet-Radio/khmer)to the world section in your internet radio channel? Might help to get her off my case for spending so much time with roku. Smiley Happy

I think you have to specify that it's a WMA. I'm not sure. In the audioapp example, I believe they link to a wma file and it plays.

Re: A Couple New Channels with More to Come

Hello NowhereMan!!

WOW! This is amazing! Thanks for all the new content!

I have another station I would love to have added to the radio page... can you?
It's a Christian Radio station... i would love to have it as an option on the page...

I have two different links.. not sure which one is the one you can use...
I was told the first one was ShoutCast, but both links take you to the same
radio stream...
