Netflix ending Support for old Rokus (Generation 1).

Per this source. So if you have an older (Roku DVP, SD/HD/XR, HD/XD/XDR) they will finally stop working with Netflix.

Re: Netflix ending Support for old Rokus (Generation 1).

Wow, the end of an era, i still remember buying my Roku HD (N1100) in 2010 and streaming Netflix was the *only* thing it did (other channels got added later), there were only about 50 movies available to stream on Netflix when i first got it, amazing how far Netflix and Roku have come since then. Gave my HD to my parents a year or so ago so they could watch Netflix in their office, guess i'll let them know and get them an Express now.

Re: Netflix ending Support for old Rokus (Generation 1).

I once had Rokus DVP (N1000; year-2008) and XDS (2100; year-2010). Currently have Rokus 4210 (2015) & 4630 (2016). Netflix subscriber since 2009.

Wikipedia , Netflix > “the number of titles available for streaming was increasing as well, and had reached 12,000 movies and shows in June 2009.”

Yeah, Netflix already had streaming on computers for a few years before the N1100, and when i first got the N1100 only about 50 of those titles were available to stream, the rest became available over the next few weeks/months, can't remember how long it took and i don't remember at all when it switched from being a Netflix only box to a "regular" Roku box.

Well.  I can remember back to when Netflix sent you a limited number of DVDs in the mail and there was no such thing as streaming.   lol
I was able to hook a Roku 3600x stick to a 2007 or 2008 CRT  TV using a cheap HDMI converter box from China via ebay and composite cables. Roku Express+ also works on it but I wanted the faster CPU of the 3600 sticks at the time.     If your TV is so old that it only has coax, maybe something similar to this (no affiliation) could work:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY4VpSMMj28

Thanks, but their tv is actually new and has hdmi, i just gave them the N1100 (which also has hdmi believe it or not) because Netflix still worked on it, so might as well use it.
