NFL app loses authentication intermittently

Jump to solution

I use my YouTube TV credentials to authenticate the NFL app.  I have no problem with the authentication process.  The issue is that the NFL app won't keep my authentication.  Everything will be fine for a week or 2 or 3..., but then my authentication will be "lost" and I will need to re-authenticate.

This has been happening since I first put the app on my Roku players.  (This happens on both of my Rokus.  An Ultra and a Soundbar.)

@jockoe

This can/does occur with all TV Providers when using TVE (TV Everywhere) authentication with all apps/services - every week or three a specific app/service may/will lose its authenticated status and require authentication again.

That being said, YTTV seems more prone to this than other TV providers, and some apps/services are also more prone to this than others (ESPN/FoxSports).

Regardless, there isnt anything that you (the consumer) can do about this, other than re-authenticate.

I suggest you also complain to YTTV's customer service about it (they may even give you service credit).

Hey @jockoe

Thanks for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing.

Try removing NFL then re-install it back in. To ensure the process is successful, follow the steps below making sure you restart your Roku device before adding the channel again.

You can check this Support link for detailed instructions: How do I resolve channel playback issues?

If by chance the issue persists after the suggestion above, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help. Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves. There's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from them.

All the best,
Kariza

An update (5.0.3) to the NFL app was published yesterday (8/19) - this may resolve the issue (you'll need to check over the next few weeks).
