MLBTV Freezing and choppy.

Am I the only one having an issue with locking frames and choppy video during games? I have a Roku 3. Netflix, Amazon Prime, and dozens of other channel apps all work fine. Also I can cast from the MLB At Bat app on my Android phone to my Chromecast fine too, although there's no good way to fast forward the commercials there. I am not watching live. My internet speed checks in above 40mb/sec.

I have the same exact issues with my Roku 3 and MLB.  Starts out fine, then becomes choppy with intermittent freezing.  Audio stream is steady.
Don't have any other issues with other apps.  MLB says it's on Roku's end!
Switch to Apple MLB, works fine. 
Software is up to date.
I have removed the app, then re-loaded. No effect.

What's the fix ROKU?

Yes, I'm experiencing those same issues too with MLB on Roku 3. I have been resorting to using hdmi output from my notebook pc to the TV and getting a smooth video stream but the MLB web site doesn't have the navigation controls that the Roku app has.

Uninstall app.  Unplug the Roku.  Reboot your router/modem.  Wait for internet to come back up, then plug in the Roku.  Re-add channel.

Let us know the results.

That's the same advice that MLB.com gave me but it did not resolve the issue.

Just tried that. No help. It seems to not happen until I've been watching for a few minutes. And it could just be me, but it seems to happen more often when the action is.
Does anyone have this issue on a Roku 4?

Please post the following info:


  • Channel version (Home 3x, Up 2x, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left)

  • Roku Model # (Settings > System > About)

  • What is the serial number of the box? (Settings > System > About)

  • What software version is the box running? (Settings > System > About)

  • Specific date/time you saw the issue
