Keep getting booted from Sling TV

I am streaming with a Roku stick. When watching various channels in Sling I get booted every now and then. No error messages. It seems to be happening more often now. The app will just reset itself and take me back the the home screen.

Any thoughts?

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know about the issue that you are experiencing.

Is Sling TV the only channel that you observe this issue with? It's possible there may be an issue within the channel itself that the service provider will need to investigate.

Try removing the Sling TV channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the Sling TV channel back once more. Does this clear up the issue you are seeing?

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

I also have this issue...ON 2 Roku devices

Sling TV keeps crashing back to the Roku home page...channels on sling include AMC and many of the others.

Also, these channels are crashing

HBOgo crashes

Hulu crashes

Prime crashes

I have:

1. taken the entire Roku off and reinstalled.

2. Removed individual apps...rebooted...and reinstalled such apps.

3. Updated Roku with the latest version...I believe 9.6

Nothing is helping...getting very frustrated

Same here every since the update, sling support is pretty much useless. They are all shoveling the blame around but no one is trying to fix it.

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

I have had Sling Tv on a Roku stick for over 5 years.  In the last few months I too keep getting booted out.  Nothing before that.  What's going on?

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

I started having this same problem on all three of my Roku sticks about the middle of 2019.  Also problems with buffering.  I have no problem at all with Netflix, Hulu Live, Prime Video.  I quick SlingTV because they couldn't fix it.  I wish they would get it fixed because I really like their service.

ROKU NEEDS TO TAKE THE LEAD IN FIXING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE SLING TV APP

I am experiencing the same issue. I've only noticed it happening in the last few weeks and it's happening on multiple devices.

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

Has the been escalated and fixed yet? What is the current status. I am experiencing the same issue. Happens on any channel on the Sling app. How come there are no updates from Roku support?

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

On a related note, We TV on sling has been doing reduced commercial marathons that leave the show starting prior to the top of the hour. When the top of the hour is reached, sling freezes. You have to go back to the program grid and reselect the channel to get it to continue to play. Seems very odd to me. It's not an on demand show, so why does the service care if it's the top of the hour or not? And I am still getting kicked out of sling on the regular.

Re: Keep getting booted from Sling TV

I am also having this problem of spontaneous kick back to Sling home screen while watching programming. This is happening on two of my Roku devices and no other apps are affected. I have tried reinstalling the Sling app, restarting the device, switching cables, etc and it still CRASHES DAILY. My message to Roku support is to please stop ignoring this problem.
