Is the problem AT&T Now? (Solved)

My neighbor and I both use the same Internet provider and we each have the same series Streaming Sticks in use.  I'm using YouTube TV whereas she has AT&T Now.  Hers is a mess.  I've already done the display change down to 1080 and ensured the auto audio leveling is off.  She has two TVs each with Streaming Sticks, each with the same problems.  One is over 10 years old the other barely 10 weeks.

I'm looking to test her system using one of my sticks.  Understand in general terms the portability they provide but have never done so.

Can I simply plug mine in and have it work properly?  Aware I'd need to use my remote and select her wi-fi .

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.  Oh yes prefer not to have to do just redirecting back to my network after the test is completed.

Re: Is the problem AT&T Now?

Well, if your houses are near enough to each other, you may be able to still connect to your own wifi from her house, in which case you could just plug your stick into her tv and go.

If your home network signal is too weak to use in her house, you'll have to set up a new wifi connection to her network (Settings > Network > Setup connection > Wireless), using HER password.  If you do this, you'll have to switch back to your own network when you return home via the same menu path - it's really not a big deal.

Re: Is the problem AT&T Now?

... but as to the ATT Now problem ...

When problems are confined to a particular channel, it may be that the channel did not install correctly, has received a faulty update, or has subsequently gotten corrupted. A reinstall of the channel to get its latest version may fix the problem, so give it a try. Remove/reinstall procedure:

  1. Highlight channel on home screen.
  2. Press * key on remote and choose Remove channel option.  This will remove the channel from the linked Roku account, and thus from all Rokus linked to this same account.
  3. IMPORTANT- DON'T SKIP:
Restart each Roku to clear its memory via Settings > System > System restart. (On a Roku TV, this is Settings > System > Power > System restart.)
  4. Reinstall the channel. Note it will be added to the END of the channel grid.  (If there are additional Rokus linked to this same Roku account, they may not receive this installation until the next time they auto-update.  You can force an immediate update on each unit via Settings > System > System update > Check now.)
  5. If the channel requires a login, you may need to log in anew on each updated unit.

If the problem persists at this point, it typically means the current version of the channel app has a problem that must be addressed by the channel itself as they are the ones that create the Roku-compatible version of their app and provide it to Roku.

Re: Is the problem AT&T Now?

About ready to attempt the remove and reinstall process.  Got delayed by her unable to locate login credentials.  Some people just refuse to maintain a master secure file.

Anyway I'm assuming that removal and re-installation is indeed separate from the AT&T account itself.  If not someone please advise.

Fingers crossed the new app works better than that amateurish one being replaced.

The remove-restart-install process will affect only the installed version of the channel app.  The underlying account at the channel will stay in force.  After the reinstall you may need to log back into your account via the channel app again.

Re: Is the problem AT&T Now?

New AT&T app installed and things are much better now.  Audio and video sync problems still popping up particularly when playing back a DVR'd event.  Usually a stop and start will fix that.

Kind of sad that the IT people who developed that app can't, or won't, produce a better product.  Layout remains funky at best.  Vastly inferior to that provided by Youtube TV.

Re: Is the problem AT&T Now? (Solved)

When problems are limited to a particular channel, it is able to be that the channel did no longer installation correctly, has received a defective replace, or has in the long run gotten corrupted. A reinstall of the channel to get its modern-day version might also additionally repair the problem, so offer it a try.
