HBO pause blocks screen

When I pause HBO the screen is blanked and I can't see the paused information.  I try to read the music credits and can't without rewinding over and over. I only have this problem with HBO and only with Roku. My phone and tablet work fine.

For more information about that channel's functionality, you'll want to contact HBO support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

I tried contacting HBO and they never responded. I guess fixing it on Roku is not something they will do. Maybe when HBOMAX is on Roku something will be done

I'm frustrated as well. The entire screen is blacked out and you can't read anything when paused. What's the point? There should be a feature hitting UP that removes the tint overlay.

I was hoping for the same thing also but NOPE, same stupid issue on HBO Max. I'm using a Roku Streaming Stick + and had HBO Now and dark screen went away a few seconds after pausing until the did an update. I've contacted HBO a dozen times and they just don't care.
