HBO Now and Roku Issue

I'm at my wit's end with this problem. I own a TCL Roku TV. My girlfriend has an HBO Now account. Before I had the TV, I used to use an Amazon Firestick to watch HBO Now using her account. The Firestick continues to be able to access HBO Now.

 

However, on the Roku's HBO Now app, when I try to access a show, it'll take me to some page that asks my girlfriend to renew her account even though her account is active and being paid for. If you click the "renew" thing, it'll ask me for my Roku pin and attempt to get me to start a new subscription to HBO through Roku. She's tried signing out and logging back in, but it always goes back to the same problem.

 

The even weirder thing is that she previously signed into HBO about two months ago and the app worked for a month before this issue arose. It just started happening without warning and without either of us messing around with the app.

 

Is it because the email attached to my Roku account doesn't match with the email for her HBO Now account? We're both so confused about this.

Thanks for the inquiry.

Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more and then try signing into your HBO Now channel again.

If the issue remains unresolved, I'd recommend reaching out to HBO Now directly to report the issue and request additional support regarding authentication on their channel. Many channels on the Roku platform are developed and maintained by the channel provider directly, and they'll be able to best assist. If other channels are working correctly, and you only experience this issue on the HBO Now channel (app), that is likely an indication that the issue lies within that particular channel. In these cases, the channel provider will need to investigate the issue in order to help resolve it.

You can't remove the channel without unsubscribing first. Roku has really gone downhill lately. Can't even use it
