Great Courses Plus stopped working

Until a few days ago I was able to watch The Great Courses Plus on my ROKU TV.  Then suddenly when selecting GCP the application will open, but just as it is listing the courses that I am currently following it goes back to the main ROKU page.  I waited a day or two in hopes that whatever changed would change back, which it did not.  I uninstalled GCP from the ROKU devise and reinstalled it.  The same thing happened again.  I went to ROKU settings and made sure that the software was updated (it wasn't, even though it claims to check each time the TV is turned on) so I manually updated it.  GCP still does not work.  The other applications that I use on the TV continue to work just fine.  My GCP subscription is up to date and I have no problem watching on the computer and the mobile phone.

UPDATE:  Roku gave me the following instructions, which so far has worked.  We had already removed/reinstalled the app.  But it works now (BTW -- contacted GCP with no response).

 

1. Remove the channel (Highlight the channel, press * button and select      'Remove channel')
2. Restart the system by navigating to Settings->System->Power-     
    >System Restart
3. Add the channel (Use the search tab on Roku home screen and add 
   channel)

 I have the same problem.

It used to work, when I signed up about 2 weeks ago, but after all the Roku pages changed (looked different) due to an update, it no longer works.

 

I choose it and for a second it Great Courses Plus flashes, then I'm back up to the First Roku Page.

No problem accessing Great Courses, nor the Great Courses Plus on my computer.

My guess is that  the update screwed things up.

I have the same problem.  Great Courses stopped working.  I called Great Courses but they told me that since I subscribed through Roku, I have to contact Roku.  Customer service person confirmed that I have viewing privileges.  My subscription is still in effect but she said she can see on her computer that Roku is not receiving their signal.  How about it Roku?  What's the story?   And are you going to credit my account for days lost?

I have the same problem playing GCP as described in previous messages. First noticed it around November 7, 2020.

I'm more than annoyed with Roku support. Cannot reach them by phone, not unreasonable on Sunday Afternoon when I looked for phone number, but there is no e-mail shown.

Even the most horrible companies offer an e-mail where you can send your message, but not here on Roku.

I'm surprised because I got excellent support in the past the one time I phoned. I suppose I will wait until Monday. If I still can't reach them I will file a lot of complaints everywhere and stop recommending the company. Since everything other than Great Courses Plus works, and it happened after a software update, they have no excuse.

Same problem with my Roku Ultra.  I found one (inconvenient, but effective) work around.  Delete the app and reload it.  You will be asked to sign in.  Don't.  Instead select examine courses.  All courses will load.  Select one and select a lesson to watch.  Then it will ask you again to sign in.  Do it (takes time, but it will allow you to sign in and watch the lesson).  Now that you are in and have all the courses listed, you may select any other course and lesson and watch that also.  However, as soon as you leave the app and go to the Roku menu, you will not be able to load the app again.  You must delete the app, reload it, examine courses, and sign in again.  But at least it works.

Ditto!  We are experiencing the exact same issue as of Nov. 9, 2020.  Hope this is fixed soon!  Want to watch on TV--not on a tablet or computer!

Same here in Louisville, CO.  GCP will not launch on my Roku 3 device.  Started around Nov 8.  have had GCP for 3 years - no problem until now.  No Roku notice addressing the problem or timeline on fix.

Thanks for the workaround, but I don't have the patience or the time to screw around this way.

I finally was able to talk to Jason of tech support at Roku (Live Chat at website).  After listening to my problem, he explained that the channel provider is responsible for maintaining the channel.  Suggested I should call GC again and work through the problem with them.  Asked me if that was okay.  Told him no it wasn't okay with me.  Roku sold the service it was Roku's responsibility to fix the problem or refund my money for the remainder of my subscription.  Told him I don't work for Roku and it's not my job unless they want to put me on the payroll.  He aplologized and tried some troubleshooting - updating the software; removing the channel; reloading the channel - finally I got fed up and told him I am done - you have wasted enough of my time.  Send me a refund and ended chat.  They are oblivious to all of you who are complaining about this problem..
