Free subscription to Britbox

Jump to solution

I received a free one year subscription to Britbox for Christmas.  I have already activated it, so how do I view it on Roku without having to pay for it?

@bbj Thanks for the note. Typically, if you already have a subscription to a service that offers a channel on Roku, you would add the channel (where available) to your Roku device, then simply log into that channel directly without signing up again.

For help and questions about BritBox, including channel availability and login assistance, you'll want to contact BritBox support here: https://www.britbox.com/us/help

Thanks,

Tanner

Re: Free subscription to Britbox

This is still a bit confusing.  I have accounts with Prime, Hulu, Acorn TV and Britbox which are all directly with the provider.  It was my hope that a Roku would allow me to add the channels and use my paid subscriptions.  It sounds like you can, but when I select any of the channels Roku opens the start a free trial?  I selected my user (circle) profile but  it only has log in/out of Roku.

Where do I enter my non-Roku subscription information for these channels in the Roku interface?

did you add channels though your account on the web?

if you use "roku channel" or add channel through roku,it goes through your roku account.

you need to add it on the web to use a personal account.

@1zodiac   Thanks,  Yes through the web account.

But I should have stated that I have not yet opened my Roku Streaming Stick and was only using my (web) Roku account to learn how to add the Premium channels and use my non-Roku subscriptions.

My Roku expectation was that adding the Premium channels via the web account would allow me to enter my subscription information in lieu of a free trial offer or new subscription. And when I install the Streaming Stick, it would sync and allow my to watch these channels.

Are you suggesting that once I install the Streaming Stick, I will be able to enter my non-Roku subscriptions login via the channel on my TV?

One more important point- I guess I'll return the Roku stick.

I found this: what-are-premium-subscriptions-on-the-roku-channel

Do existing partner subscriptions allow me to watch Premium Subscriptions (HBO, EPIX, SHOWTIME, Starz, etc.) on The Roku Channel?

Existing subscriptions from services like Hulu, Prime Video, your cable provider, or directly from the publisher cannot be used to view premium content on The Roku Channel.

@GL369  Thanks for raising this question. This is only referring to premium subscriptions inside 'The Roku Channel' offered by Roku. Each of the services you mentioned also have their own standalone channels on the Roku platform that will allow you to sign in using your existing subscriptions.

Example standalone channels:

HBO GO: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/8378/hbo-go

HBO NOW: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/61322/hbo-now

Showtime: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/8838/showtime

Showtime Anytime: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/38820/showtime-anytime

EPIX: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/7767/epix

EPIX NOW: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/261472/epix-now

STARZ: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/65067/starz

The Roku Channel offers the ability for customers to subscribe to and access these services all in one place, inside The Roku Channel as 'Premium subscriptions'. This option is great for those who do not already have an existing subscription to these services outside of The Roku Channel, and want to access content from all these services in one place.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thanks,

Tanner
