FoxNow app won’t play video

For the last couple of months, we have gotten an error trying to play tv shows on the FoxNow app. I am logged in u see my account as well as my TV provider. The FXNow works fine! But since you can not watch shows from other networks we can’t watch the shows on FoxNow. We have been having to go to Hulu which has longer commercials for us. It is not our network connection, or software update, or tv provider or anything but the FoxNow app. I have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know about the issue that you are experiencing.

Is FOXNOW the only channel that you observe this issue with? It's possible there may be an issue within the channel itself that the service provider will need to investigate.

Try removing the FOXNOW channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the FOXNOW channel back once more. Does this clear up the issue you are seeing?

My grandma is having a problem with the FoxNow app as well. It will start to load and then once it goes into the app it immediately kicks her back out to the main screen. We have deleted and reinstalled the channel many times that doesn't work.

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know about the issue that you are experiencing.

When you deleted and reinstalled the channel, did you make sure to restart your device before reinstalling the channel?

Did you try removing your TV provider authentication from the channel, restarting your device, then re-authorizing the channel to see if this clears up the issue? We'd also recommend checking with your TV provider to make sure that your current subscription includes access to the content that you are trying to view. 

If the issue remains unresolved, I'd recommend reaching out to the FOXNOW directly to report the issue and request additional support. Many channels on the Roku platform is developed and maintained by the channel provider directly, and they'll be able to best assist.

I’m having the same issue. Fox News and FXNow work great. But every time I load FoxNOW, the app itself loads, but when I try to watch a show, it says “the app has encountered an error.”

This is happening on our Roku TV and 2 Roku boxes. I’ve deleted, reset, reinstalled...nothing.

Now what’s interesting is that if I sign out of my TV provider (DirecTV), it will allow me to watch a 60 minute preview.

So the app apparently works, but not when we’re signed in? I guess I’ll contact FOX and see what they say. If y’all find a solution in the interim, plz let me know!

That’s the same thing! As long as I am not logged in as DirectTV it works. So I use Hulu instead for now.

Nope. Still not resolved. Obviously not a Roku issue bc I tried downloading the Fox app on my iPhone and I can’t watch anything there either.

I’ve reached out to fox (FoxNOW.support@fox.com). They first said my area must be in a dispute and gave me a website to search DTV disputes...and quickly closed the case.

We’re not in a dispute and I reached out again. Still waiting to hear back. Obviously, we need more people to contact fox or it will never get fixed.

I am having the same issue. Fox first said it was a dispute, so Fox is not available in my area. I turned on my TV and went to a fox network and replied to the guy that I am watching fox on my TV through Directv. His next excuse was that it was a Roku issue. ALL other channels on our Roku work fine. How is this supposed to get fixed if Fox refuses to believe they have a problem? 

And yes.. I tried everything suggested multiple times and it's just not worth it to continue trying.

This started happening for me last week. Could it have something to do with the disney+ launch?
