Thanks for the update Tanner (disappointing as it may be).

Are there any channels that I can use to find out if Roku is going to be making Disney Plus available anywhere outside USA/Canada at some point? Particularly considering that Australia and NZ were among the first places in the world to actually have the service made available to us?

Or is availability of Disney Plus on Roku solely within the control of Disney? (I will be contacting them also if I can work out how to do so).

Yes, Disney is the sole controller for what region their service and app are available. I'm sure Roku would love it to be available everywhere, but Disney has total control of that.

Hi Haydn, I'm in NZ too and can't install disney (and lots of other channels).

I talked to Disney last week or so and they weren't aware of this problem and said they would look into it. I think it probably is the location situation that tanner mentioned, but Disney didn't know of this and they asked for my ip address etc.

I think it is probably that disney hasn't set it for NZ and Aus as no-one here really has a Roku, so they focused on other devices.

Thanks for letting me know this plusone. I'll chase Disney+ help about this also, with a bit of luck they'll get it sorted eventually.

Because Disney hasn't authorized Roku devices to have the channel. Disney is who controls that, not Roku. Disney has to approve regions beyond the US and Canada, which right now are the only two regions that Roku devices are permitted to access Disney+. Again, Disney has to make the change in their Roku channel programming.

Probably very similar reasons to what we're experiencing in New Zealand. The Disney+ channel is currently only available for US and Canada. If you contact Disney+ support and let them know you're trying to install the Disney+ channel on a Roku device in Australia but cannot because the channel is not available hopefully at some point their tech department will work out that there are people outside of USA who have Disney+ and a Roku who need the ability to install the channel.

You cannot make it work. Disney has only allowed Roku devices in the US and Canada to install the D+ channel. So you have to keep bugging Disney to update their Roku channel to allow additional regions to use the channel.

This is something that Roku has no control over. Regional access is completely controlled by the channel developers, in this case that's Disney. Roku cannot alter what the channel developer designates in the channel software.
