Crashing Closing down

So all of my apps seem to start fine then about 20 minutes in they close down and it returns to the homepage. I have tried factory rest, system updates and even removing all apps, performing a factory reset then reinstalling and it is still happening.

Roku model number and Software version may be very helpful.

Name three apps this happens on.

How long did the device work properly before this behavior started? (Sorry, should have asked this earlier.)

Re: Crashing Closing down

We're up against the calendar here. Whatever is wrong, you'll want to get resolved, or get a final determination that it won't be, before the warranty runs out.

That device and remote are IR, so there should be no network interference. I'm wondering if the remote is somehow triggering a stray HOME signal. Even though it's IR, which is thought of as line of sight, IR signals can bounce, so if the remote is the cause, it doesn't necessarily have to be pointing at the device.

A way of testing to confirm or rule out the remote would be to start a video, then block the remote from sending a signal. Most effective way would be to remove the batteries. Does the same thing happen while batteries are out? If so, we've ruled out the remote and should focus on the device. If the behavior stops, then it's the remote.

Re: Crashing Closing down

9/10 the remote isn’t near as I use the app on my phone to work the box.

When you say "isn't near" does that mean not even in the same room? Just wanting to rule out a remote that's not used, but still in the room, sitting for months, with batteries in, going bad, and sending stray signals.
