Using either abc.com and also Abc.com/activate the code given comes back as invalid

Are you using same net connection IP address for both?

For ABC you must have and verify a standing subscription.

I guess since I don’t have A tv provider other than the internet it won’t work

Same thing happens to me. I'm surprised nothing has been done about this in over a year!

The fix for me was so create an account (or since I subscribe to disney+, just sign in on the website with my disney+ account, then activate the application.

This Issue I was encountering:

I activated ABC by stating I was a uverse customer, the app would say I was logged in, but any attempt to watch anything and I was presented with a NEW sign-in request, any attempt to sign-in would fail saying the activation code was invalid (probably because I'm also signed in but the app refuses to acknowledge it).
