Cannot sign into Channels.

I have installed the Roku streaming player, etc to my TV, gone through all the set-up steps, connected to wifi, installed new channels, and everything appears ready to go. However, when I try to open a channel, I am asked to first sign in or create a new sign-in ID (ex. Apple TV). When I try to create an ID, I'm informed that there were "errors signing me in", so I cannot proceed.

I suspect it may be my inconsistent wifi connection, but my signal strength shows fair to good.

Am I missing a step, or is it a connectivity issue?
