Can’t find BBC iplayer in channel search

Jump to solution
Hello,
I live in the UK and have just set up my new Roku Express but when I search for UK channels like BBC iplayer or ITV hub it says ‘no channel search results’. There are lots of other channels available to me but not the ones that I want.
Any ideas? Thanks

Hi there!

Thanks for the note. It sounds like you may have created a Roku account that isn't located in the UK region. If a channel isn't appearing in Search, it may indicate that your device is linked to an account that was created in a different region (i.e. parts of Ireland, etc.) where that channel may not be offered by the channel provider. You'll want to make sure that you are using an internet connection located in the correct region when creating your account. You can check your IP address' reported location by visiting www.whatismyip.com - If you see an issue, you'll need to contact your ISP to help resolve any issue, then create a new Roku account in the correct region. We'd also recommend reaching out to the channel provider directly for more help and information regarding the availability of their service on the Roku platform in your area. They can also assist with any login or troubleshooting questions that you may have.

Thanks,

Tanner

I have the exact same issue

  • Your Public IPv4 is: (removed)
  • Your IPv6 is: Not Detected
  • Location: Bristol, ENG GB
  • ISP: TalkTalk Communications Limited

No UK catchup channels appear. No Channel 4, No ITV No Channel 5

Trying to set this up on behalf of my inlaws who don't want subscription channels, just catchup TV.

I ended up returning it and buying the steaming stick + as I have friends who have this one so knew it would work however it did the exact same thing. I deleted my log in as thought perhaps that had something to do with it and made a new account making sure I included my billing details so it knew I was in the UK and it worked! I had to do a factory reset on the box but when I set up with the new log in it worked fine! Hope that helps

Reset it and put your bank details in. Should work then.

I am having the same problem with UK channels including BBC iPlayer.  Found the USA channels and Netflix which works fine.

In my case, the Roku Express is on my boat in the Lake District (UK) connected to a marina WiFi with a good signal.

How can I resolve the situation?

@TonyWarrington

Thanks for the post.

It sounds like you may have created a Roku account that isn't located in your current region. If channels in your region are not available, it may indicate that your device is linked to an account that was created in a different region where that channel may not be offered by the channel provider. You'll want to make sure that you are using an internet connection located in the correct region when creating your account. You can check your IP address' reported location by visiting www.whatismyip.com - If you see an issue, you'll need to contact your ISP to help resolve any issue.

We would recommend creating a new Roku account in your region. For more information about how to create a new account, visit our Support page here: How do I create a Roku® account? Once your new account is set up, try to perform a factory reset on your device and link it to your new account. Hey @MikeH79

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community!

Your latter suggestion would work to resolve the issue you're experiencing. Since you'll first deactivate the Roku account associated with your existing email address, that email will be available to be linked to a new account.

You can check out this Support article if you need help on how to deactivate an account: How do I close my Roku account?

Let us know if this works for you.

All the best,
Kariza
