Can't add global TV channel in Canada

Jump to solution
Hi,
I'm located in Canada and for some reason when I try to add the Global TV channel I get an error saying it's not available in my region. I've tried from the roku website. On the roku device the channel doesn't even appear in the search. Is there something in my account that needs to be changed?

Thanks

@cpike

Thanks for the update.

It sounds like you may have created a Roku account that isn't located in your current region. If channels in your region are not available, it may indicate that your device is linked to an account that was created in a different region where that channel may not be offered by the channel provider. You'll want to make sure that you are using an internet connection located in the correct region when creating your account. You can check your IP address' reported location by visiting www.whatismyip.com - If you see an issue, you'll need to contact your ISP to help resolve any issue.

We would recommend creating a new Roku account in your region. For more information about how to create a new account, visit our Support page here: How do I create a Roku® account? Once your new account is set up, try to perform a factory reset on your device and link it to your new account. Thanks,
Danny

@Rayannbaz

Thanks for the inquiry.

Have you tried adding the channel through the Roku Channel Store: https://channelstore.roku.com/en-ca/details/259870/global-tv

If a channel isn't appearing in Search, it may indicate that your device is linked to an account that was created in a different region where that channel may not be offered by the channel provider. You'll want to make sure that you are using an internet connection located in the correct region when creating your account. You can check your IP address' reported location by visiting
www.whatismyip.com - If you see an issue, you'll need to contact your ISP to help resolve any issue, then create a new Roku account in the correct region. We'd also recommend reaching out to the channel provider directly for more help and information regarding the availability of their service on the Roku platform in your area. They can also assist with any login or troubleshooting questions that you may have.

Thanks,
Danny

I got it to work, I am from Ontario, you need to have cable or Satellite to watch it live.

This response is not correct or helpful at all. I also have the same problem and my IP is clearly canadian. All four of my roku's seem to think i'm in the US and I can't get the global or any other canadian tv app to download on them as it says not available in my area. My account was setup in Canada and all of the roku's were bought in Canada. No issues at all with my Fire TV but I don't think I should have to buy four new fire sticks to replace my roku's???

I rebooted the roku and it took my satellite sign in, works great, I wish we had more Canadian tv channels on it.

Thanks

I am still having issues with this. How do we rectify this?

The way I was able to resolve this was I had to first delete my Roku account and then recreate it. When I went to recreate it I had to first make sure the Roku website was set to Canada. Look for the region setting at the very bottom of the main Roku page. Also the URL in the address would have en-ca at the end of it.
