Cable provider

What if I don't have or want a cable provider, does that mean I can't want any of the channels I selected?

It depends on what channels you're trying to watch.  If you're trying to get cable channels without a cable provider, you're probably out of luck.  Most Roku "channels" don't require any cable provider.
