Pandora, Disney Plus, Hulu, PBS... in essense, all of my premium channels (except Netflix!?) are jumping back to the Home Screen.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

Roku channel is only one that does not return me to Home Screen.

What I have done: (nothing works)

Loaded Roku remote app on my iPhone-Still will not allow me to load YouTube TV or YouTube or any others.

Tried 5 click on Home button and the  5 clicks on Back button. I did not try singing while doing it or twirling around or jumping up and down while doing it.

Changed batteries.

Roku Device is a TCL 32"

Serial # YKQOOC474421

I wish there was a support desk to call.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

I was having this issue this evening with Netflix, Vudu, and Prime. My simple fix was to go to system settings and perform a system restart. All channels started working normally again.

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

Are you still having issues today? I'm on the east coast, and I'm still having various playback issues w/ Amazon, Hulu, HBO Max, Youtube, etc. They are eventually responding, but very SLOW. I think there is an issue out on the internet somewhere with a 'Content Delivery Network' that these apps all use. Tested ROKU Live TV this morning and that is still not working. I can get the guide, but no channels actually stream.

My ROKU Info:
Roku Premier+ (Wireless | Static IP) - HDMI (1080P)
Roku Premier+ (Wireless | Static IP) - HDMI (1080P)
TCL Roku TV (Wireless | Static IP) - HDMI (4k)
AT&T Internet (1024 Mbps / 1024 Mbps)
Netflix; Hulu Plus; Amazon Prime; HBO Max

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

@mrjlturner

Sounds like your issue is different and related to an internet outage/routing issue at/near your ISP.

FYI, all the different services arent using the same CDN, so its most likely service limitation as stated above.

Make sure you reboot/restart all your devices, and check your speed regularly on a PC/mobile device using the Ookla or Analiti speedtest apps (dont use a browser).

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

Yep everything on my network checks out fine. One thing I have noticed w/ the TCL tv that is having the worst of the issues, the time on the TV is off, and there is no way to set it. It calls out to a NTP server on the internet somewhere, and it's returning a time that is like 13 hours ahead. Time being off can definitely affect SSL services (especially when authentication to the service has to happen before the stream starts.)

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

I have tried every suggested remedy I can and nothing has worked. I say "I can" because I can't even find the wording on some of the suggested cures on my screen, meaning, I assume, that my device is completely decrepit. On the other hand, I wonder if that same decrepitude is what limits my problem to TNT, which I haven't seen anyone else mention.

Since I have to upgrade my equipment in order to continue using Prime after November 1, my solution to this is to find another device, probably from Amazon. Recommendations would be much appreciated, though!

Re: Are you being returned to Home screen after selecting a channel?

I've loved my ROKU devices through the years. I prefer them over the smart tv's overall because these devices are easy to upgrade after they "age". The ROKU 4 units, though, are pretty hefty in specs and should get you through for a good 3-5 years. For the price and functionality, that is hard to beat!

It can affect all sorts of services in odd/weird unobvious indirect ways.

Roku TV's dont have Settings/System/Time/Time Zone=Set manually ?

I recommend the $30 Express 4K+ if you get it from Roku.

The $40 (often has discounts) FS4K is very solid as well if  you want an Amazon product.

You might even consider both, as I heavily advocate a multiplatform streaming strategy to deal with app availability/compatibility/functionality differences/issues.
