Re: Apple TV+ on Roku 4

Jump to solution

maybe it has something to do with the Roku 4 being the only device of its kind in the entire Roku lineup. all of the other supported devices have others of the same kind, some even have more than 1 generation

I seem to remember that when Amazon didn't have Youtube people would say "complain to amazon" and not blame youtube for it. I mean, I get your point obviously but what's Roku in all this then? They demand nothing, just take whatever crumbs Apple throws their way?

I'm very disappointed the Apple TV won't work on my Roku 4. Who at Apple are we supposed to contact?

I'd start here (https://support.apple.com/) and dig in from there. Probably the Apple TV support link.

@MsPiggy

You'll want to reach out to Apple support directly to share your feedback regarding availability of their channel on Roku devices. You can reach them here: https://support.apple.com/contact

I am trying to find a Roku streaming device that is compatible with the Apple TV App. All models listed end in X. All models available for purchase directly from Roku, Amazon, Walmart, and BestBuy all end in R. Where can I purchase models that end in X???

To make it easier on yourself, get a Roku Ultra in the last few generations 2017 - 2019

or a streaming stick plus.  There are others supported I'm sure, but those will give you the best performance, and the best features for price.  They all support 4k, and HDR, and can be used with a 1080p TV, or a newer 4K compatible one.  If you were to go buy a Roku Ultra from Walmart, the model would end in X, and you'd be good to go, the ultra will cost you  $99 full price, the Stick Plus is about $50 to $60.  There are sales going on though, so if you say found a 2018 Ultra, you'd probably get a good deal on it.  I follow Cord Cutter's news, on YouTube, and he mentioned, that the new Roku Ultra (2019) was on sale for $79, from certain places.  So, look around.

Hope this helps.

The letter makes no difference. It only has to do with the retail distribution channel. It's the model number itself that matters. You can ignore the letter at the end.

Or just maybe Roku enforce some guidelines on their "clients" and not let channel creators dictate how a roku works.    If you are unwilling to do that, then maybe Roku needs to provide a mechanism for refunds, upgrades and credit.   It is your platform after all.

I totally agree. This makes no sense to me why the older devices and certain others besides the Roku 4, your new TV, and some others didn't get the Apple TV+ app. I'm a little pissed for no clarification from Roku or Apple why this is happening. I went to both websites for an answer.🤔 Nothing so far.

You also brought up another good point. Will the Disney+ app not work for us either? I saw something about the Roku 2 not being compatible with YouTube TV but it is with Apple TV+. That's weird. My Roku 4 does have YouTube TV. Now let's see what Disney+ does.
