App on my Roku 2 but NOT Roku Express

Jump to solution

I used my mobile phone to download the Peacock app onto my Roku. I was looking for Peacock on the search tab, but wasn’t able to find it. Once I downloaded it off my phone, it went onto my Roku 2, but NOT my Roku Express. Why would this be? How can I get it onto my Roku Express also? I’ve never had this issue before!

What's going on, and why @renojim was asking, is that Roku will recycle device names across various model numbers. For instance, your Roku 2 is likely model 4210 and not the Roku 2 model 2720. I say that because the model 4210 is essentially a Roku 3 but with an IR remote in the box, and that device supports Peacock. However, the model 2720 doesn't support Peacock.

There are various model Roku Express devices, as well as Express+ models, and the older ones, model 3700 and 3710, don't support Peacock TV. My guess is you have one of those models from 2016, and not the 3900 or later model from 2017 onward.

As your experience indicates, that older model supports most apps, but, as you're finding out, not all apps.

What are the model numbers of your two Rokus from Settings->System->About?  The names aren't good enough.

Thank you so much for this! My Roku 2 was indeed the 4210 and the Express was 2700+ I’m pretty sure. Either way, an unsupported device for Peacock. Thanks for your knowledge
