Okay, so if Roku and YTTV lose their minds and decide to part, what is a cheap and comprehensive alternative to YTTV? Yes, I hear those of you ready to stomp off and get a Firestick, but if you decide to stay with Roku, what to do? Fubo??
Thanks for any creative suggestions. I'm broke and can't afford grand gestures, hence the original Roku/YTTV combo.
I've been researching too, just in case. I'm of the opinion that Fubo will be the best option, but they don't come close to YT as it relates to saving films in your library. I'm hopeful it doesn't come to that. I support Roku, but YT has the best overall service among the lot.

Let's take a step back and consider your question, and one aspect that many people assume, but may not be so.
Do you really need a live streaming service? Sure, you might. Many new cord cutters simply replace cable with a live streaming service. However, many long-time cord cutters (including me) found they didn't need a live streaming service, mainly because they didn't exist when we cut the cord.
Think about what you really are after. Think hard, and decide if you really need to spend that amount of money to watch content that you enjoy.
If you decide you do, then you may want to consider just what channels you want, and how bad you want them. Many people can get local stations from an antenna. I'm 40+ miles away, and need a big antenna to pick up all the local channels (VHF stations are the most difficult). You may be in a similar situation, or you may be more fortunate and are closer to TV towers.
Alternately, 31 US markets have locals on a service like https://locast.org
Once you have decided if you need a service to include local channels -- or not need them -- then you can begin a serious search for the best live streaming service.
There are many Websites that offer methods of finding services with the channels you want. I personally like https://suppose.tv to help family members find what they want.
If you use that Website, enter your location (ZIP code is sufficient) in the top left, then pick the must-have channels, including locals, if necessary. Then pick the device you want in the top right. It supports Roku and many many other devices.
You may find that if you have local channels, you can use a service as cheap as Philo ($20/month), or you may need to pay more for something like AT&T TV ($75+/month).
Give things some thought, maybe think outside the box, and you may be surprised what you can save.
