Adult Swim offered on Roku, but won't activate w/out cable

Jump to solution

Roku website says it offers Adult Swim. The channel appeared on my lineup. There's a box to choose Roku, then the activation code box appears. When I enter the code displayed on my Roku, it next always asks for my cable provider.

Either Roku gets Adult Swim or it doesn't, which is it?  If it doesn't, why is the Adult Swim box in my lineup, why does the Roku website say it does?

If Roku does have Adult Swim, why does activation always send me to cable subscription list?

Adult Swim has made their content available to Roku users who are paying for the Adult Swim service via a paid subscription to a tv provider that carries Adult Swim.  This is very common for virtually all cable-stations that also allow internet streaming.

Some may show just little clips, or limited episodes to try to get you to subscribe, but many won't work at all without that paid tv provider subscription.

Roku doesn't know whether you have a qualifying subscription for that channel or not.

Try to load ESPN or USA Network, as just a couple of examples, and see what you get.

  • Roku Streaming Stick +, 3810X, Ser YH0059427035, wifi - Samsung UN55ES6100
  • Roku Streaming Stick, 3600X, Ser 5S56D8240827, wifi - JVC EM37T
  • TCL Roku TV 43S425/C107X, Ser X000001R60KV, wifi

I have problem getting Adult Swim even tough I subscribe to Cartoon Network on my cable provider.
I had no problem when I had Comcast but then I moved to Verizon FIOS.  Even after doing a factory reset on my Roku device.  I went to website and entered Verizon as my provider, and then entered my code.  It redirected me to my Verizon account and told me I needed to order a package that included "Adult Swim."  Well there is no "Adult Swim" channel to subscribe to.  It's just the name of the late night programming block on Cartoon Network.  I am able to successfully login to channels on Roku in my Fios tv package, including Cartoon Network.

I've been trying to determine who's end this is on, Roku's or Verizon's.  Adult Swim is not a separate tv station that you can subscribe to.  When Roku checks my subscription, they should be passed a positive for both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.  If only CN is getting passed, is that Verizon?

@SmilinDanny

Thanks for the post.

For more information about that channel's authentication, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

Issue is unresolved.  It is unclear whom Roku means when they say contact the "channel provider."

1) Does this mean my television provider, with whom I have my subscription (i.e. Verizon, Comcast, etc.)?
I have done this and after 6 hours of being transferred back and forth Verizon told me they don't support 3rd part streaming parties, and told me to contact streaming provider.

2) Does this mean send a message to "Adult Swim Channel" through Roku?
I highlighted Adult Swim Channel, and pressed the "*" button on my Roku Remote.  I then Selected option that says "Problems with login/authentication" on their preset list of options.  Other than that, the "Channel" doesn't have any way to do feedback or get help.
