Activating Paid for Apps

Do all purchased apps require you to activate with a code and url specific address or do some ask you to use your email and password of that particular app?

Some do it one way, some do it another. I'd say the majority use a name/email address and password, but some absolutely use a link on a web page. Vudu and Netflix are a login, while Amazon uses a web link. Just as a couple of examples.
