Acorn tv purchase through roku after 7 day free trial

After the 7 day free trial for acorn tv, we were billed $5.99 for the monthly subscription by ROKU.  Our problem is that we didn’t set up an acorn account and when we tried to view acorn tv on another older tv, it requests that we either login to acorn tv or subscribe to acorn tv for an additional cost. We never set up an acorn account originally when we received the 7 day free trial, so how do we proceed to view acorn tv on the older tv?

Re: Acorn tv purchase through roku after 7 day free trial

When you subscribe to a subscription channel service through a third party (like Roku, Amazon, Hulu, etc.) your subscription is with that third party, not with that channel service.  This typically means you can only view that service through that third party.  In Roku's case, that means you typically have to view it through The Roku Channel.

If you want to view that service on platforms other than Roku, you should subscribe directly with that service on its website.  Then you can view on any platform that the channel service supports (computer, dedicated app on phone or tablet, dedicated app on various streaming devices, etc.).

I'd suggest you log into your account at and unsubscribe from Acorn.  The subscription will remain in force for the remainder of your pre-paid month's subscription, but it will not then auto-renew at the end of your month.   When this subscription runs out, go to and subscribe there, or do it sooner if you don't mind paying for overlapping subscriptions.  Then you will be able to log into this new account on any platform that has an Acorn app.

And if you're sure you'd want to keep it that long, on their website Acorn offers a discount if you subscribe by the year rather than by the month.
