I have several genuine Roku solar panels connected to battery / outdoor cameras, the usb ports are starting to fail . destroying both camera and cables. Units were in dry environments I disassembled one and found no evidence of water incursions ? Is there a solution or upgrade ? All were in use 3 or 4 weeks.
I have one outdoor camera with a solar panel attached. The camera is under a deck, but still semi-exposed to the elements. The solar panel is completely exposed, as you would expect to stay in the light. I did notice a few weeks ago that the camera battery was down to the 30s% range, and when I looked at it I felt that the connector might have loosened and wasn't making contact. I did notice that without removing the rubber cap that covers the USB port the plug from the solar panel doesn't really fit snugly into the socket. But I must had gotten it reconnected and the camera battery is back to 100%. This is an area that doesn't really get direct sunlight in the winter.
Are you certain the ports are failing, or is the connector simply not seating all the way down?
I’ve made certain that the connection is good. It still completely melts / burns the camera connector .
Thanks for the clear explanation. That does sound defective, and I haven't had the same issue with mine. Roku has a one year warranty on their players, but I'm not certain what the coverage is for their home devices.
