Is optical on streambars output only?

Did I build a surround thats only good for apps? Optical port seams useless because say I change input to xbox I have no sound. Seams the streambar optical is output only making the whole surround useless without it having inputs on it. I can take that optical out of streambar and plug it into any old soundbar and I get sound.

No, optical ports on Roku Streambar's are input only.
