Re: Insanely LOUD Commercials ONLY on Roku Channel

Hard to believe that ROKU allows this issue to persist when the issue is obviously on their end. The simple fix is for ROKU to adjust the volume level of the too-**bleep**-loud commercials. Users should not have to jump through all of these hoops - most of which are futile. A company with good customer service would have addressed this issue already.

Hey, @DPF1.

Thanks for sharing this here! We'd like to be able to help.

You might want to check out the Volume leveling feature on your Roku. It can help you lower the volume of those super loud commercials!

Here's how:

  1. Start playing a movie, TV show, or other content
  2. Press Star on your Roku remote
  3. Select Volume mode and choose the desired setting

Absolutely does not work.  How about Roku simply stop being disrespectful to those bringing your product/service into their homes?

Re: Insanely LOUD Commercials ONLY on Roku Channel

IS there ever going to be a fix for this ROKU channel volume problem?

Sharp LC50LBU591U, software version 14.1

Sound runs through a Polk Signa 2.

Commercials are so loud I have to mute the tv. Isn't this disparity a violation of FCC rules?

I am becoming very tired of the telephone calls from my landlord.

Re: Insanely LOUD Commercials ONLY on Roku Channel

I agree! I had fallen asleep while watching a show on the ROKU channel and was blasted awake by the extremely loud commercial, then I couldn’t find my dang remote! That alone made my decision, I won’t be watching the ROKU channel in bed anymore, and definitely won’t be watching it unless my remote is clearly accessible so I can mute the dang commercials!

Re: Volume of commercials on Roku are loud

  • During Previews gets extremely loud! If you have to walk out of the room for a few seconds! & not getting the chance to push mute! & Even if you did once the show you have been watching comes back on... you wouldn't know it came back on! Of course you have to go back on the show! Because you can't always pause on the commercials! & You have to wait & deal with the loud sound until you get back in the room! But If you live in apartment it could make things worse it can get you in serious trouble!  If it's to make a sell it does the opposite for me! Causes me to "NOT" be interested @ all! It's like going to a car lot! Annoying car salesman! & I was curious why when you pay for channels through Roku it  happens to be alot more then other companies over the charges!

Try adjusting the volume mode by turning leveling on, if that feature is available on your device.

Re: Volume of commercials on Roku are loud

You said you "pay for channels through Roku" and are seeing ads. You might prefer to pay for some channels that are available ad-free. Some examples are: Max, Paramount+, Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+. I haven't watched a channel with ads on Roku since 2016, so it can be done.

Banned but back. Because why not?

Re: Volume of commercials on Roku are loud

The ad-free based over how much money you can provide! If someone is on a fixed income this can be extremely difficult if you want to watch different channels! I have no issue with the ads itself. But its the volume of the ads that's the issue!
