The Roku Channel unsupported region (Guam)

Jump to solution

Recently purchased a used Roku TV off of FB Marketplace. Everything is working as it should EXCEPT the Roku Channel.

When I click on Roku Channel, it takes me to the Roku Channel Home Page. When I click a movie or tv series, it doesn’t load. Also, LIVE TV isn’t working. The screen stays black. No audio or anything. These issues only happen in Roku Channel.

I've tried factory resetting the TV. I’ve tried resetting my router. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app & the problem still persists.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for keeping us posted, @kbsb14!

We've noticed that you're located in an unsupported region. Just a heads up, some features, like this channel, are only available in some regions. But no worries, you can still access some channels on Roku, like Netflix, and keep streaming like usual!

We hope this clarifies your concern.

Hey, @ElliottPM.

Thanks for chiming in!

The Roku Channel is available in Canada, but it's important to note that the content may vary. Additionally, your Roku TV or device must be registered in the region where you want to stream the channel, which in this case is Canada. You may need to factory reset your TV and register it with a Canadian account.

I'm having the exact same issue on my TCL Roku TV. Every other channel works, ONLY the Roku channel doesn't work. I've looked through troubleshooting guides and other forums. Nothing has fixed it so far.
I think this is a new issue for my account.

I'm in Canada

I have tried every reset/reinstall YouTube Roku fix and use a vpn available and sent 10 emails to roku 'customer service' and none has yet to be opened or any help provided to use the 4k stick here on guam this ridiculous we can not access the roku channel we are a u.s territory with 16400 military and 17000 u.s citizens the roku stick was my first choice and not working was the reason i purchased the fire 4k it works perfectly so why should i continue to pay for a Roku account that doesn't work as advertised i don't need any futher fix suggestions just update the product or cancell the account.

@Shake752 Roku has no customer service email addresses, so not certain who you may have sent it to. But while Guam is a US territory, it is not a state and as such isn't included in services that require a location within the US. I'm pretty certain Puerto Rico is the same way, along with other territories. There is no "fix" to this issue. Roku is limited to where they can provide The Roku Channel services based on the contracts they have for the content they provide. They are not permitted to stream their licensed content outside the US.
