The Roku Channel App on Nvidia Shield Pro Closed Captions

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to turn on/off closed captions on the live channels within the Roku app. Watching on a Nvidia Shield Pro. I can see closed captions in settings, but that only changes the styles of closed captions. When I go to live channels, some show CC. But no matter what button I select the Nvidia remote, there's no option to turn them on or off. Other apps like Max, Hulu, & Netflix all have some type of option to do this.  Is this an option on the Roku app?
